  The model name is shown on the silver label on the black or yellow plastic burner cover of most VAL6 models.

The letter in the serial number indicates the year the VAL6 heater was manufactured.

If the plastic burner cover is missing or the silver label is unreadable, model can be determined by matching your heater to one of the following images. 
The appearance of the front protector assembly is the easiest
distinguishing characteristic.
